Designation	IT Architect - Storage
Job Description	This is a Tier 1 storage architect requirement. Tier 1 is largely defined as high performance storage solutions serving transaction oriented workloads for compute environments. This person would work across the Enterprise Architecture stack, and will architect, design, and document the tier 1 data storage solution. This would include a combination of various technologies including virtual machine hypervisors (KVM, VMWare, pSeries) and their use of block storage, data redundancy techniques, and working knowledge of key disk storage architectures: SVC, XIV, V7000, and DS8000. Additional knowledge and best practices around deploying large scale SAN environments is a definite plus as is use of automation products such as TPC and VMControl. This person would work closely with other architects for integrating tier-1 data storage into the overall Enterprise Architecture offerings and with the data resiliency team to insure data is properly protected. Additionally the person would need to find innovative ways to continually reduce the overall cost of the offering which includes hardware, software, and operation of the system. The candidate would also interact with the IT Infrastructure management team to automate the tier-1 storage functions and to expose the proper level of function to the cloud customer.
Desired Profile	The candidate should have well over 6 years of in-depth experience in the storage area # Desired Candidate Experience At least 2 years experience in Large Scale Storage solutions At least 2 years experience in NAS Protocols and associated networking skills At least 2 years experience in Web API (RESTful) capabilities along with web service applications At least 2 years experience in Knowledge of storage models and technologies from Storage Leaders – EMC, Netapp, IBM etc. At least 2 years experience in Data replication and protection At least 2 years experience in File System operations (GPFS, Linux, AIX, Windows, SONAS) At least 2 years experience in Storage topology (SAN, direct attach, iSCSI, network attached storage) At least 2 years experience in HA Architectures At least 2 years experience in Fixed content storage capabilities At least 2 years experience in Data immutability knowledge for archival applications

This position reports to the Manager-Enterprise Databases, and will be responsible for the design, build and run support of large data warehouse Oracle databases (10gr2 and 11g). Will work closely with DWH project team and take up tasks that include, but are not limited to - database environment builds, code deployments, database backups, clones, and performance tuning, etc. Will provide expertise on database and code performance tuning, and will ensure developers and application teams have optimum environment in which to deliver applications.

. Responsible for 10g and 11g data warehouse environments' design-build-support.

. Responsible for performance tuning of data warehouse databases as well as provides guidance to developers/DW team by participating in performance tuning of code.

. Provide 24x7 production support.

. Participate in project meetings, understand deliverables and expected schedules, and deliver to schedule.

. Provide progress status reports on weekly basis to Manager.

. Responsible for database backup and restore, clone and environment refresh.

. Responsible for support activities like data loads and code deployment.

. Follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures e.g. Change Management, Incident Management, etc. when performing tasks.

. Coordinate database system upgrades with DW/IT Teams.

. Develop, publish and maintain database operations documents under revision control.

. Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

. Bachelor's degree or related and an expert understanding and experiencing with Virtual Private Databases (VPDs), star schemas, CDC, Oracle Streams, use of Materialized views, partitioning

. Good knowledge and experience with ETL processes and tools, Oracle datapump

. Good working knowledge of 10gR2, 11gR1 and 11gR2 on UNIX/Linux platforms

. Good working knowledge of using Grid Control for monitoring and alerting

. Good working knowledge of ETL and Reporting tools like Business Objects

. Should be able to diligently follow build/deployment documents, standard operating procedures including build standards, run support, change control, and incident management

. Should have a good understanding of complex database architectures on UNIX and LINUX

. Should have proven capability in root cause analysis and reporting on the same

. Should have experience working on large projects interacting with senior application and project managers

. Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills

. Should have high energy level and a go getter attitude
