The primary responsibility of this position is to drive the business intelligence initiative to support the business strategies of Client's. This position will participate in the process for shaping business intelligence solutions and advocate the benefits of the strategy to the business and development teams. Additionally, the role will assist development and technical services teams in architecting and standardizing business intelligence approach and systems.
Responsibilities:
* Establishing standards for BI strategy and BI meta-data life cycle, to be used across the organization
* Developing standards, usage guidelines and procedures for BI tools
* Working closely with end user and business analysts to define and analyze business requirements and effectively integrate them into a BI solution.
* Developing BI data management methodology, standards and best practices in regards to business intelligence and educate both technology and business users throughout the company
* Acting as a subject matter expert for Client's Data and systems environment by; understanding of Client's data and how it is used by the business, understanding of the systems within the environment and their interrelationships, understanding of key stakeholders
* Creating, and maintaining and championing the use of appropriate standards, processes and tools to promote and facilitate mapping of data to BI sources and interfaces
* Establishing measurements and processes to chart and assess progress related to completeness and quality of BI information, support reduction of data redundancy and fragmentation, eliminate of unnecessary data, and improve data quality
* Translating business needs and requirements into reports, view, dimensions and other BI specific objects.
* Installing, configuring, deploying, tuning and troubleshooting BI tools and servers
* Creating and maintaining the BI meta-data repository
* Creating and maintaining BI Ownership documentation
* Developing BI applications
* Participating in Data Governance Process to ensure standards are being followed
* Documenting Data Lifecycle for BI Data objects from creation to elimination
* Performing the role of Business Intelligence Data Modeler
* Completing additional responsibilities including BI Report Development, Data Modeling, and ETL Development
What abilities I must bring to the table to be considered:
* 3-5 years experience with business intelligence development, including architecting and BI data modeling.
* Experience in developing BI reports, templates and views using Cognos and TM1 module.
* Solid project management skills in planning and monitoring projects in a cross-functional environment.
* Must have excellent presentation skills
* Exhibit organizational agility identifying and establishing relationships with people in the company who can get things done and use formal and informal channels effectively
* Cross-functional collaboration:initiate dialogue around different points-of-view to find a common ground; lead interdepartmental teams, facilitating organizational consensus and creating synergies to arrive at the best business outcome
* Effectivelydeal with ambiguity, handling risk and uncertainty with comfort, maintaining effectiveness in the face of change and acting on decisions without having the total picture
* Use multiple resources to analyze data for abnormal findings, further investigating where warranted and identifying cause-effect relationships impacting the data
* Possess strong listening skills and hear many points of view without bias, asking clarifying questions to check for understanding
* Usecritical thinking to solve complex and difficult problems with effective solutions skillfully questioning multiple sources for answers, seeing the underlying and hidden problems and patterns beyond obvious symptoms to address root causes
* Use available resources to pursue goals and challenges with the intent of achieving results, striving for continued excellence and taking appropriate risks (Managing the 5 Measures)
* Advise others within the organization, as well as external business partners, using relevant knowledge and skills to ensure that sound business decisions are made.
* Useaction planning techniques associated with completing tasks including scoping out the length and difficulty of projects, breaking down work into processed steps, managing deadlines and making adjustments for multiple demands.
* Experience with project management, communicating goals and responsibilities to the team being sure to monitor performance against a project plan and effectively applying project controls. Include project stakeholders, team members, and subject matter experts in order to get things done
* Experience with risk evaluation: proactively identifying areas of potential risk exposure, thoroughly analyzing the situation to ensure the financial investment of a solution makes sense and implementing cost-effective controls to mitigate risk
What will set me apart from other candidates:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
* Exposure to ETL tools such as Informatica's Power Center
* Understanding of capabilities of vendor infrastructure products.
* Technical Design
* Database proficiency (Oracle, Microsoft SQL.etc)
