Job title: Business Objects consultants
Location: MN
Duration: 3-6 months
Project Activities
q Provide support for the installation, configuration, and deployment of Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) XI 3.0/3.1.
q Review and make suggestions for improvement for an existing BOE environment; support the implementation and configuration of approved improvement suggestions.
q Provides consultation to local lines of business and assist them with information technology decisions and implementations related to Business Objects Enterprise BI.
q Ensures that all Xcelsius Dashboards, Webi or Crystal reports meet client's prescribed data quality standards/objectives by working with data architects to refine and optimize data integrity processes, quality standards, monitoring processes, as well as audit and reconciliation processes.
q Creates and updates written documentation for BOE. Provides team leads with written status reports for projects and tasks
q Assess and create documentation for processes to: migrate current Business Objects version to a new version; and migrate reports/objects between environments (Dev, QA, Prod).
q Provides information regarding the integration of BOE Crystal Reports with other applications.
q Provides information regarding the optimization and tuning of BOE and impact of the BOE configuration settings.
q Review and provide information regarding some of the outstanding problems or issues that are unresolved, such as multiple reports cannot be run from the same browser session without losing previous data, other that the displayed page.
q Provides knowledge transfer to IT technical staff and business users as required.
Required Skills
q Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; coursework in MIS and/or BOE XI 3.0/3.1 certification is preferable.
q 6+ years experience supporting and administering Business Objects Enterprise or similar BI environments. To include: 2+ years technical project management experience.
q 2+ years experience writing technical documentation
q 2+ years experience training and mentoring junior team members
q
Desired Skills
Strong preference for candidates with experience in any of the following areas:
q Significant experience with Oracle and MS SQL RDBMS.
q Experience with J2EE servers (e.g., IBM WebSphere, JBoss, etc).
