Java Developer Needed
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Duration: 6 month contract
Description: Java/JSF Developer - Java, J2EE, JSF, RAD, Websphere, SQL, XML, HTML, SOA
Responsible for analysis, design, coding and testing of new applications or enhancements to existing applications using Java-based technologies, including Java, J2EE, JSP, XML, JDBC, and Servlets. Must be able to apply SDLC concept and have a proven track record of delivering solid, robust applications. Must have a solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming. Strong communication skills are required as position will interact with business owners. 6+ years of prior Java development experience required.
Job Summary: Responsibilities will cover full applications project lifecycle including initial project definition, requirement specification, solutions design, application development and testing, implementation planning and support, and maintenance. The work will focus on web based application development and support, and/or applications utilizing linear programming. Primary Activities and Responsibilities: Research, analyze, and define business solutions. Prepare detailed project specifications and design solutions for business problems. Code, debug, test, and support utilities, tools, and programs as part of the application development process. Document test cases, expected results, test data requirements, and collaborate with testing teams/business partners to resolve testing problems. Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics AND 3 or more years of experience in Software Application Design and Development
Bachelors degree in Computer Science AND 5 or more years of experience in Software Application Design and Development
Knowledge and Skills:
Written and oral communication skills
System documentation skills
Microsoft Office skills (primarily Excel, Word, Outlook)
Problem solving skills
Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Knowledge of Java, Xtended Markup Language (XML), javascript, AJAX and Web Services
Knowledge of common software design patterns (Model-View-Controller, Singleton etc.)
Ability to design test data suites
Ability to design and deploy J2EE web-based technologies using Java Server Faces 1.x/2.x object-oriented methodologies
Ability to utilize IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD) or related Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
Ability to write queries using Structured Query Language (SQL) in Oracle Database and SQL Server Databases
Job Requirements: May be required to travel to Business Continuity site in support of real or test Disaster Recovery exercises.
Work hours may vary in length and schedule. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek.
Work hours may include on call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day.
