[discussion_vu] New Quality Guidelines - Action required in order to bid/stay listed

Freelancer April 2012

  Hi khas008,

New Quality Guidelines - Action required to bid or stay listed

Freelancer.com is committed to offering you the best online marketplace, and ensuring that you have the best chance available to receive more work.

In order to maintain a high standard of quality, in 14 days we will start removing freelancers from the online Freelancer Directory that do not have profiles that are up to scratch. Additionally, in 28 days, we will start restricting the ability of freelancers to bid on projects unless their profile information is of a certain level of quality.

What do we expect?

In future, to be able to bid on projects and be listed in the Freelancer Directory, all accounts must have a quality profile photo, as well as have complete subheading and summary fields.

1. Display your best profile picture possible.

Images we will accept include photos of yourself, your team, an image that you have designed or your company logo.

Employers recognise a face much quicker than they do a username or a logo.

Visit your account details page to update your profile photo.

2. Provide a display name, subheading and summary.

Give employers a quick introduction about who you are and what services you can offer them. Ensure that your profile is free of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

For your display name, you might prefer to use your full name or your company name rather than the username you selected when you signed up.

Make use of the subheading to provide your company slogan or to highlight top skills that you can offer the employer.

Your summary can be used to sell yourself, talk about your work history, summarise key points and highlight your skills to ensure employers understand why you're the right Freelancer for their job.

Visit the Overview page on your profile to update each section

3. Set an hourly rate that you are willing to work for.

You can edit your hourly rate underneath the HireMe button on your profile page.

This is optional, but we highly recommend that it is filled in.

4. Use your Portfolio to showcase your best work!

You can upload almost anything including images, text, code, audio and video. If there is a piece of work that you're particularly proud of, you can choose to display this as a Featured item.

While we will not restrict your account if you don't have a portfolio, we highly recommend you have one.

Visit the 'Portfolio' page on your profile and then click the 'Add Item' button to upload.

5. Complete your Resume to increase your opportunities.

Show Employers examples of your work, highlight all your achievements, and display your level of education. Resumes should tell an employer a great deal about yourself, where you are, where you have been and where you are headed. Convince the employer why you're the perfect fit for them to hire you.

Visit the 'Resume' page on your profile to update your Summary, Experience and Education.
