Job title : Business Intelligence Analyst
Location : New Haven, CT
Duration : 6+ months
Rate : $50/Hr
Details:
Participate in Business Intelligence (BI)/Reporting projects and perform complex analytics, requirements gathering, design, testing and
support in response to customer BI reporting and analytic needs.
Essential Duties:
Business Intelligence (BI) Requirements Management
Collaborate with process owners, business managers, technical staff and project managers to define business needs and document
requirements. Combine business and advanced technical knowledge to determine the most appropriate approach to meeting a business
need.
Execute Business Integration Testing (BIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testing procedures to ensure high quality solutions. Act as Lead in coordinating cross-team testing activities, tests solutions, coordinates enhancements and communicates test results.
Identify, verify and document functional requirements using requirements management methodology and tools (e.g. SDLC.).
Translate business requirements into functional design specifications.
Collaborate with project management leadership to develop and maintain project plans.
Analytics Development & Support
Design and support complex ad-hoc report development as needed.
Support business unit self-service capabilities by defining the business needs and requirements for data acquisition and reporting services.
Respond to end-user questions regarding choice of the most appropriate analytical tools and models to best meet their needs, parameter
setting and query structures for ad-hoc reporting.
Assist in the identification of needs for new tools and models required to meet customer reporting and analytic objectives.
Test the User Interfaces (UI).
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field and five years of related technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Education and Experience
Ability to manage large-scale projects with competing deadlines, using a system development lifecycle methodology.
Experience working in a Data Warehouse environment utilizing reporting tools based on PL/SQL programming and multi-dimensional
interactive environments, preferably Oracle and Hyperion.
Experience in quality assurance, testing and design and execution of test plans.
Experience using desktop applications, including MS Project, Excel and Word.
Preferred:
University experience; Oracle eBusiness Suite, Hyperion and OBIEE knowledge; previous PL/SQL developer experience in a data
warehouse environment.
Skills & Abilities
Ability to quickly come up to speed with complex data structures.
Gather requirements from customers to understand the context and business needs driving requests. Facilitate meetings with both business and IT users
Ability to transition knowledge of requirements to BI solutions architect and design teams to build complex BI applications.
Proven ability to perform a lead role for requirements gathering and functional design.
Working knowledge of SDLC.
Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and planning skills
Excellent problem solving skills critical
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently but as a member of a team
Excellent understanding of financial and business processes
