Our client, located in Ithaca, NY is seeking a PHP Developer for an immediate contract position. Details include:
Our client is seeking an experienced, motivated and well-established software engineer with a demonstrable passion for building and implementing quality code to help build the next generation our client delivery platform.
Responsibilities
The Software Engineering Contractor will assist the SSE (Senior Software Engineer) and SSA (Senior Software Architect) in building our client's next online learning delivery platform. The successful candidate will:
-Adhere to guidelines and framework developed by the SSA, SSE and Assistant VP, Learning Technology in developing the platform
-Write and maintain new software code, ensuring compliance with good practice standards.
-Communicate daily with the SSA, SSE and AVP, Learning Technology regarding project status, progress and pitfalls.
-Create and maintain software code documentation.
-Assist in the day to day bug fix and new feature life cycles.
-Participate in peer code reviews.
-Ensure the security, stability and availability of applications and systems.
Technical Requirements
-Fluency in more than one object-oriented language; PHP preferred.
-Use of one or more development frameworks.
-Javascript and JQuery or EXTJS experience.
-Excellent skills in Ajax, JSON, XML, XSLT.
-Fluency in SQL, working with PostgreSQL, MySQL.
-Experience with JAVA/JSP systems strongly desired.
-2+ years of experience with at least one Linux distribution or Mac OS X strongly desired.
Other Requirements
-Ability to learn quickly, switch gears quickly, and work on code in a modular fashion.
-Deep understanding of current social web technologies and trends.
-Avid technology user; someone who not only understands technology, but enjoys it.
-Practical understanding of and proven implementation of secure software code.
-Ability to design and document systems which are intelligible to a broad group of developers so that bugs are easily traced and fixed, and enhancements are anticipated.
-Ability to follow our client(and good practice) standard coding practices.
-Proven abilities in software integrations, between disparate languages and platforms.
-Ability to leverage skills of team members when solving problems.
