Description of Job

The BI architect is responsible for assessing an SQL Server reporting/analytics infrastructure, recommending appropriate architecture, building the required architecture and for providing technical oversight during development/implementation. Specific tasks may include:

•          Building and extending the current BI architecture;

•          Metadata management using SQL server;

•          Recommending new SQL server functionality, such as alerts, reporting, dashboards, or scorecards as appropriate;

•          Recommending additional BI technologies, as appropriate;

•          Contributing to BI project scoping and estimation efforts;

•          Defining BI reporting/analytics requirements with business users;

•          Developing business rules and calculations for data marts;

•          Designing and developing star schema and snowflake data models;

•          Troubleshooting technical issues related to data mart design especially related to performance;

•          Interfacing with database administrators, data analysts, ETL team, SQL Server technology team, and business users to reconcile BI outputs and provide an additional level of quality assurance;

•          Producing high-level source-target mappings of DW entities to data mart entities; and

•          Completing best practices gap analyses.

Job Qualifications includes:

•          8+ years of data warehousing and BI experience with at least5 yearsof BI architecture experience using MOLAP – Analysis against a Multi-Dimensional Databaseand ROLAP – Analysis against a
            cube created on the fly from a RDBMS;

•          4-6 years SQL Server SSRS and SSAS architecture/design experience;

•          Experience working with the full life cycle development process, which includes analysis, design, construction, and testing;

•          Strong knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence fundamentals;

•          Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, organization and attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences;

•          Must have sound understanding of business fundamentals in order to interact with business users and understand requirements;

•          Must have sound understanding of modeling fundamentals in order to work closely with Data Architects and Data Modelers to ensure the model design effectively leverages the Business Objects
            reporting platform.

Desirable

•          Experience working with law enforcement agencies.
