The eCommerce Principal Engineer is responsible for setting and maintaining eCommerce Architecture strategy and technology standards, and ensuring these standards and strategies are appropriately implemented as a part of all eCommerce deliveries. This position is responsible for leading the eCommerce practice in the design of systems architecture that enables interoperability, scalability, reliability, manageability, supportability, data quality and extensibility.
Responsibilities
• Participate in the development of an eCommerce Application Architecture Strategy including technology standards and roadmaps, implementation patterns and associated communication materials. This includes:
o Presentation Strategy
o Business Logic Strategy
o Information Access Strategy
o Reuse Strategy
o Process Automation Strategy
o Transformation Strategy
o System Resiliency Strategy
o Package Systems Integration
o Application Security Strategy
• Providing technical and organizational leadership in the design, definition, planning and development of the client eCommerce systems architecture and strategy, including repeatable solutions patterns.
• Keeping abreast of developing and emerging design and implementation tools and technologies and facilitate training and mentoring on these topics to the eCommerce team.
• Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with strategic vendors
• Ability to adapt technologies to meet the needs of the client eCommerce business in a manner that can be easily utilized across the enterprise.
Experience and skills:
• Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or Engineering
• 10+ years of IT Experience including a minimum of 3 years in a retail eCommerce Principal role.
• Personal experience leading the successful design and delivery of at least 3 enterprise-wide technology application projects, preferably including Oracle/ATG Commerce Suite.
• Understands how enterprise IT organizations design and implement both custom and package technology solutions.
• Five or more years deep experience in application architecture including specifically:
o Presentation Architecture
o Reuse Strategies and implementation
o Component based implementation
o Architecting and integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform, multi-tasking operating system environments (e.g., Unix, Linux, Windows)
o 4 or more years experience in software development in an RDBMS environment.
o Extensive experience with package system implementation and interoperability.
o Demonstrated expertise in various technologies and tools, including Java, J2EE, Application Servers, XML, web development, and application security.
• Ability to analyze and learn rapidly changing technologies
• Ability to think strategically and implement iteratively
• Strong solution design and facilitation skills; Able to facilitate the solution design process working collaboratively with cross functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with IT leadership teams.
• Ability to identify process improvements and develop and present a business case.
• Ability to represent Client as a technical Subject Matter Expert at key industry and vendor events.

This role is responsible for the design, development and support of solutions which implement key eCommerce capabilities at client .
This role requires the technical subject matter expertise necessary to deliver predictable enterprise-level, eCommerce applications which meet both the business and technology needs of client. Skills include experience with development, documentation and implementation in current development tools. This position requires substantial communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and collaborate with other IT teams.
Responsibilities
• Lead the development and maintenance of various client eCommerce systems.
• Participate in the analysis and selection of 3rd party frameworks that embody the client architecture strategies and principles.
• Creating documentation and training related to the eCommerce systems which are managed by this role.
• Keeping abreast of developing and emerging design and implementation tools and technologies in the retail eCommerce space and facilitate training and mentoring on these topics to the enterprise.
• Ability to adapt technologies to meet the needs of the client business in a manner that can be easily utilized across the enterprise.
• Demonstrates a commitment to client core values.
Experience and skills:
• 8+ years of experience developing and supporting J2EE applications with an emphasis on retail eCommerce.
• Experience providing technical leadership to small teams of engineers.
• Previous experience with various web technologies such as Oracle/ATG Commerce Suite, J2EE, XML, HTTP, SOAP, AJAX and SQL
• Demonstrated experience in advanced development practices and techniques in retail eCommerce with emphasis on reliability, scalability and reuse.
• Practical experience implementing J2EE applications with associated automated testing practices such as unit, integration point, durability and resiliency.
• Experience with UML modeling
• Experience in test driven development using tools like JUnit and JMock and associated techniques to introduce their use to development teams.
• Ability to analyze and learn rapidly changing technologies.
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively other IT teams.

This position requires substantial communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact and collaborate with other IT teams.
Responsibilities
• Development and maintenance of enterprise-level J2EE applications.
• Design, code, and test individual systems software components.
• Research development and production issues and work with technical staff to understand and resolve software problems.
• Assist with end-to-end systems design within the context of a single system.
• Assist with evaluating, installing, testing, monitoring, and maintaining system software.
• Assist in the test design and perform Quality of Service testing to ensure applications meet performance, scalability, availability, and security requirements.
• Follow System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
• Perform after-hours support of Client systems.
• Demonstrates a commitment to Client core values.
Experience and skills:
• 3-5 years of experience developing and supporting J2EE applications.
Previous experience with various web technologies such as J2EE, XML, HTTP, SOAP, AJAX, HTML, JSP, Javascript, CSS, XML, XSLT, MVC Framework and SQL
• Expertise in the back-end development: Oracle database development, SQL, unix scripts, web services etc.
• Practical experience implementing J2EE applications with associated automated testing practices such as unit, integration point, durability and resiliency.
• Experience with UML modeling
• Experience in test driven development using tools like JUNIT
• Ability to analyze and learn rapidly changing technologies.
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively other IT teams.
