Description:
Client is seeking an energetic and talented developer to deliver innovative customer facing solutions for several eCommerce initiatives. Client is looking for a Lead Database Developer for the development and design of web components and services to introduce new capabilities and services for our online customers on a highly scalable eCommerce platform.
Essential Functions:
• Design & Develop eCommerce solutions using MySQL and other relational databases
• Performing database design functions on the daily basis
• Proficiency in writing stored procedures or triggers using MySQL, Oracle or MSSQL.
• Drive innovation and new ideas throughout the delivery teams
• Lead and mentor other developers in coding complex technical solutions
• Ability to prioritize work and help them team assess impacts to timelines
• Communicate gaps in business and technical functionality and assess impact to timelines
• Analysis of business requirements and subsequent creation of high level technical design documents and technical specifications
• Test driven application development, as well as execution of implementation activities
• Analysis and identification of technical areas of improvement within existing web applications
• Unit and system testing of application code, as well as execution of implementation activities.
• Analysis and identification of technical areas of improvement within existing web applications.
• Help research and recommend open-source and other technology frameworks that can drive innovation and differentiation of our web sites
• Work with other internal IT teams to complete project activities, such as Infrastructure, Architecture and Database teams.
• Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies and work with management and development team in bringing new technologies.
• Good written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree - preferably in computer science - or equivalent experience
Masters degree preferred
Experience:
• 5-10 years experience
• Working with distributed databases, sharding is a big plus
• Rules / Recommendation / Personalization engine experience is a plus
• Experience with E-Commerce or other order processing systems
Role specific abilities/skills:
• Five years industry experience with demonstrated leadership results
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus - especially in the areas of writing high-performance, reliable and maintainable code.
• Unix/Linux: Proficient in Unix commands and shell scripting.
• Works well in a team environment and be able to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements.
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus - especially in the areas of writing high-performance, reliable and maintainable code.
• Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies including code reviews and version control software such as CVS or SVN
