Windows Virtualization Engineer, 5+ yrs experience

The Windows and Virtualization Engineering position will be based out of the Sunnyvale, CA location.  The primary role is to develop and maintain Company's Windows standards, develop automation for implementation of the standards, engineer virtualization technologies with windows, document standards and new technologies, and provide tiered support to operations and the delivery teams. Position requires expert level skills related to the engineering and architecture of Windows platforms, Company storage, and data centers.

 

The qualified candidate should have a proven track record of engineering Windows based solutions in large data centers, creating and documenting standards for systems in the data center, testing and documenting new features or technologies, and providing tiered support.

   

The essential functions include but are limited to:

• Cost benefit analysis of server solutions as they apply to business objectives

• Performance analysis of protocols, server platforms, and architectures

• Develop and  automate procedures to improve efficiencies

• Evaluation of  new technologies

• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and nights when necessary.

• Ability to travel internationally  <10% of the time

 

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must have extensive experience in Server and Windows implementation, and management

• 5+ years design and deployment experience with Unix systems in data centers

• Expert knowledge of the following technologies

o Windows

o Windows services (Exchange, AD, DNS, DHCP)

o Server platforms

o Windows Virtualization (VMWare)

o Automation of system builds (boot disk provisioning)

• Excellent system level understanding of Windows system and services.

• Substantial experience in administering and performance-tuning

• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in iSCSI, FC SAN, CIFS, LDAP, SNMP, SMTP, TCP/IP

• Hands-on experience in Company storage for NAS and SAN

• Proven knowledge in system/application monitoring tools and technology

• Strong oral and written communications skills

• Ability to communicate technical proposals to supervisors and management

• Fluent with MS suite of tools including MS Visio

• Strong project management skills

• Knowledge of database and major applications (SQL, Oracle, Citrix, IIS) is a plus

• MCSA and/or MCSE is required

• VMware VCP is required

• Red Hat knowledge is plus

• ITIL Certification is a plus

• Interaction:

o This individual must work effectively with Staff to Vice President level employees within the function, across functions and with external parties.

o Limited supervision and direction is provided, as this individual can operate and drive results and set priorities independently.

o The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert.

To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through regular leadership and influencing others.
