Job Description:
The Global Monitoring Tools Administrator is responsible for the configuration and upkeep of the global infrastructure monitoring tools. This position is specifically responsible for BMC Performance Assurance and BMC TMART software, providing the following services: capacity planning using Visualizer and Perform as well as Capacity Management Essentials, and synthetic transaction monitoring using BMC TMART. Other responsibilities include setting up monitoring services using BMC Patrol and BMC Performance Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
This individual will be responsible for general administration of BMC software and supporting monitoring toolsets; responsible for moves/add/changes to the operating environment, including but not limited to: server monitoring, application monitoring, database monitoring, capacity planning monitoring, as well as documenting the monitoring request and change control documentation.
Skills/Education Required:
Monitoring tools experience; 3 or more years experience in a complex computing environment; familiarity with TCP/IP stack and basic routing principles; availability for occasional after-hour and weekend work
Preferred skills
BMC software or equivalent experience in BMC Patrol, BMC Performance Manager, BMC Event Manager, BMC TMART, and/or BMC Capacity Management (BMC Performance Assurance and/or BMC Capacity Management Essentials) experience in an enterprise environment x3 years; Exposure to a variety of enterprise monitoring tools. Working understanding of SNMP, SSH, WMI, and ICMP; experience with SQL report writing, database mining preferred.
