Description
AIX Unix candidates - need to have ability to build AIX LPARS, Live Mobility, HACMP, GPFS.
		Under general supervision, maintains integrity of the operating system environment and ensures compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Defines procedures for monitoring and evaluates, diagnoses and establishes work plan to resolve system issues. Performs troubleshooting for complex hardware, software and network problems. Works on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader. May coach more junior technical staff.
Duties		Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining operating systems in support of business processing requirements. Schedules and performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archieve operations. Supports media management through internal menthods and procedures or offsite storage and retrieval services. Develops and promotes standard operation procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies and configuration guidelines. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
Experience		Minimum of 6+ years of IT work experience with systems administration. Ability to work on multiple projects as a team member, occasionally as a project leader. Ability to perform troubleshooting for complex hardware, software and network problems.
Education		Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar is preferred. If no degree, then one additional year of experience is required for each year of college not attained. High School Diploma or GED is a required.
