Job Title: SQL Server DBA
Location: Philadelphia, PA (face-2-face required after phone interview)
Duration: 6+ months contract

 

The Client is looking SQL DBA consultant with sybase experience.

 

Required Skills:
-Supporting, maintaining and enhancing existing business systems
-Delivering and deploying new systems, technologies and services

 

This role will be responsible for:
-Supporting new business projects, initiatives and projects
-Ensuring housekeeping and monitoring of all database systems
-Rostered 2nd and 3rd line production support for database platforms
-Processing business requests for general database activities
The Team is currently looking to recruit a Database Administrator.
The role will be predominately SQL focused with some Sybase experience required.
The main responsibilities of this role are:
-Installation and administration of database servers
-Ensuring the availability and performance of all database systems
-Ensuring backups and the validity of data structures
-Controlling security and access to all database systems
-Ongoing upgrades and maintenance of database software
-DR planning and testing

 

The successful applicant will:
-Have significant database administration experience
-Have experience of globally distributed database systems
-Show initiative and is comfortable working on their own
-Be able to work to business deadlines
Ideally have experience in the banking/finance industry

 

Job Description:
Essential technical skills:
Sybase ASE 12.5.x, 15.0.x and replication
Perl / Shell programming
MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005
Desirable technical skills:
Oracle Dataguard
Sun Solaris
Redhat Linux
Veritas Clustering Software
Scheduling Tools
