Senior Technical Architect
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Technical Architect with heavy Java Enterprise development in an Agile methodology environment. This position is responsible for architecting and implementing a multi-layered Java focused
environment to support new Electronic Parts Catalog Applications at a major auto parts supplier. A strong candidate will offer the following hard and soft skills:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs object modeling activities, detailed data analysis, designs and implements logical and physical database structures including data service architectures.
Produces formal deliverables as assigned in the project plan. Works effectively and professionally with team members, other IT staff and business users in delivering high quality project work products.
Communicates effectively during deliverable walkthroughs. Effectively adapts communication style and documents based on the technical knowledge of the intended audience.
Effectively follows-up on assigned actions providing timely feedback or solutions.
Takes initiative in identifying potential barriers to project success and offers proactive solutions that align to the culture and operating model of the company and the project team.
Estimates database work efforts and provides constructive project approach input to project management.
Acts as a principle database technical resource for Electronic Parts Catalog applications during development, test and rollout phases of the project.
Implements physical database tables, performance components, security components, communications components and access components for the Electronic Parts Catalog environment throughout the project.
Ensures integrity of database schema through all stages of implementation, including design, development, QA, and production build out.
Monitors and takes appropriate action to maintain integrity of the databases including security and privacy issues throughout the project.
Evaluates, implements and maintains database software, related documents and tools as required by the project.
Must be able to provide Electronic Parts Catalog support throughout implementation and production rollout.
May provide assistance and consultation to other infrastructure staff.
Responsible for query performance optimization, and tuning implementations.
Populates development and test databases with sample data.
May be responsible for building bulk data load software for centralized databases and/or data push software for Store databases.
Maintains database security in the development and test environments.
Provides disk capacity estimates and database physical design information.
Monitors resources including CPU usage and space utilization in the development and test environments.
Provides build out support for disaster recovery processes and procedures.
Database certifications are a plus, but should have experience with large, complex, partitioned and multi-layered data service environments.
May execute queries on behalf of the development team and the business users.
May perform technical solution research on behalf of the development team.
Must be good at providing thought leadership while at the same time delivering high value results on assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred: Master*s Degree in Computer Science or related field (Math, Engineering, CS, CIS, etc.)
With eight years of experience as a Java Solutions Architect
Or a Bachelor*s Degree from a four year college or university in Computer Science or related field (Math, Engineering, CS, CIS, etc.) with nine years of experience as a Database Architect/Administrator.
Or experience of 12-15 years as a Technical Solutions Architect.
Strong conceptualization, communication, and architectural - technical skills.
Eight years of solid Technical Architect experience in modeling, architecting, designing, installing, configuring, tuning and troubleshooting large scale n-tiered Java-based web applications and databases.
Solid experience working with a number of database platforms (e.g., MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, DB2 and MySQL).
Proven experience in the concepts of Object Modeling.
Experience using Rational Rose or similar tool to generate object models.
Experience using various J2EE technologies including: EJB, JPA, MQ series.
Experience with JBoss7, Web Services, MySQL 5.5.
Experience coding for large scale n-tiered java-based web database applications.
Experience in the design and development of Web based service layers
Ability to analyze application use cases, requirement statements, and user interface documents to derive logical and physical models.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse business and technical setting and adapt to changing business and technical needs.
