Position Description

The Release Manager supports and promotes stronger adoption of best practices, identifies innovations in software and process, and resolves issues within the releasemanagement process. This position combines development, system administration, solution architecture, build engineering and release management.
The DevOps Engineer will interface directly with development, production support, and QA teams and maintain a high level of visibility with entire team. This role will support and maintain the build and release processes as well as the supporting tools. DevOps Engineers are engaged on the beginning of the project for setup of environments and build tools and again on closeout of a project for handoff to clients. The candidate will work on multiple project simultaneously, helping identify technical and governance similarities for best practices is a critical skill.
The primary focus of the DevOps engineer will be to assist in the automated build and deployment of source code to multiple environments. To be successful, candidate must understand the software being deployed, deployment cycle, and automation tools. This position will also evolve into infrastructure and cloud flexing opportunities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Supports the full execution of the Deployment Process including the code build process and tools
Monitors the responsibilities of all personnel required to ensure successful deployment of releases into the SDLC environments. 
Collaborates with internal resources to ensure effective releases
Working with Developers to understand build/deploy processes.
Participate in client facing meetings as required to discuss and enforce Release Management policy.
Partner with Operations team for adherence to regularly scheduled maintenance windows
Working with QA to support validation of each release
Developing and refining software development and deployment processes
Management of software configuration and change management systems.
Establishing processes around unit test results in build promotion.
Identify best practices and standards to be adopted for future projects.


Qualifications

Coding or scripting with open source tools.
1 or more years developer experience on the Linux Platform, supporting Java enterprise solutions on Linux.
Basic understanding of server technologies, operating systems, network and storage technologies, and how these relate to deployment of applications
Strong understanding of software development lifecycles.
Proven communication skills and the ability to work across teams.
Ability to communicate technical issues into business language.
An ability to organize and prioritize tasks and time to effectively address competing expectations
Familiarity with unix shell in Unix/Linux systems

Tools

Strong technical skills specifically in the area of automated build management of 1 or more of the following:
Jenkins
Ant
Chef
Puppet
Maven
Capistrano

Knowledge of 2 or more of the following required:

Ruby
Java
Bash Scripting
Knowledge of, or, administration experience with
Jira
Confluence
Sonar
Subversion
Bind (DNS)

Knowledge of the following software platforms desired, but not required

hybris
Adobe Experience Manager, CQ
Blue Martini now part of JDA/Red Prairie

Knowledge of the following tools desired, but not required:

Scalr
RightScale

Knowledge of standards based enforcement tools desirable such as CheckStyles, FindBugs, PMD, and JLint

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor*s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Computer Information Systems
