English Translation of Al-Quran
[26].Surah Ash-Shuara [The Poets]
Ayat 200. Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Qur'ân) to enter the hearts of the Mûjrimûn (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.).
Ayat 201. They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment;
Ayat 202. It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not;
Ayat 203. Then they will say: "Can we be respited?"
Ayat 204. Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on?
Tafseer of Ayat 200 to 204. Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the Sinners. "Thus" I think means through the medium of the Arabic language and the Arab people. The Qur'an penetrated through their language and their hearts. If the hardhearted among them did not believe, they will see when the Penalty comes, how grievous a mistake they made. For the Penalty must come; even when they least expected it. They will be caught saying or thinking, "There is plenty of time; we can get another respite," when already it will have become too late for them to turn over a new leaf. They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? While some sinners out of negligence postpone the day of repentance till it is too late, others more bold actually ask out of bravado that Allah's Punishment should be brought down on them at once, as they do not believe in Allah or His Punishment! The answer to them is: It will come soon enough-too soon, they will think, when it comes!
Hazrat Ibn Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) took hold of my shoulders and said, "Be in the world like a stranger or a wayfarer". Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) used to say: "When you survive till the evening, do not expect to live until the morning; and when you survive until the morning, do not expect to live until the evening; (do good deeds) when you are in good health before you fall sick, and (do good deeds) as long as you are alive before death strikes".
[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 76, Hadith # 425].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shuara Ayat 202."It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not" A person who will consider this world as a temporary stage, will certainly not like that his clothes be entangled in thorny bushes of this world. The greatest fault of man is that he does not understand this status of the world. In spite of the fact that he is not sure of a moment's life here, he occupies himself in amassing goods and riches which would last for a hundred years.
