Job Title   :  QA Software Engineer
Location   :  Birmingham, AL
Duration  :   6 Months
Rate          :   $45/Hr

 

The person in this role is a software developer who will write code for the purpose of testing our applications.  Additional notes First and

foremost, this person is a software developer.   They are writing .Net code as the primary responsibility of their job.   The goal of the code

they write is to test our product and prove that it is meeting specifications.   This position requires that someone be innovative because

sometimes the parts of the application that need to be exercised are not easy to automate.    This is not a position for "leftovers" or people

that can't cut it as a developer.   It's actually a more challenging job in most cases than your standard feature developer. 

Companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Expedia – all considered progressive software development companies now use this role

extensively within their organization.
The Quality Assurance Engineer for MetaPress will be responsible for testing activities related to web applications developed in Active

Server Pages, SQL Server, and .NET, including development of test plans, test scripts, and regression testing. The candidate will work with developers, clients, support and other SQA team members in an Agile environment.

 

Responsibilities:
•  Collaborate with feature developers, software engineers in test and product owners to develop high-quality solutions
•  Daily coordination of testing activities with cross-functional team
•  Participate in the evaluation and establishment of SQA infrastructure and tools for the team
•  Author, review and execute test plans, test cases, and scripts to ensure adequate coverage based on requirements
•  Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team
•  Contribute to the team's ability to make and deliver on their commitments
•  Accurately estimate requirements and tasks

 

Skills
Required Skills:
•  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
•  Minimum two year technical software testing experience required
•  The ability to create and maintain test plans
•  The ability to create, manage and execute test scripts with test management software
•  Track defects using defect tracking software
•  Must be able to query a SQL Server database
•  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, and work well with cross-functional teams

 

Preferred Skills:
•  Experience creating and maintaining automated tests
•  Experience using MS Visual Studio 2010 test tools
•  The ability to debug C# and VB code
•  Experience working within an Agile environment
