Position: QA Tester - 352
Location: Albany, NY
Type: Contract
Duration: 6-months with the possibility to extend
Summary:
Work in a global team responsible for designing, building and maintaining test harnesses and software configuration management toolsets. Systems are high performance, real-time Java systems running on Linux/Windows. The ideal candidate will have a strong object oriented Java background and extensive experience using the Rational Functional Tester tool and heavy SQL experience. Healthcare industry business knowledge is a plus, Pharmacy Benefits Applications is ideal.
Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, and execute automated tests using the Rational Functional Tester (RFT), which will require programming in Java.
· Understand the role of testing within the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and business-related project constraints, and effectively advocate for the best possible customer experience of product quality within those parameters.
· Select and develop appropriate test automation tools, applying the latest techniques in test automation; e.g., data-driven testing.
· Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents; i.e., perform manual static testing.
· Perform code reviews with development teams.
· Work with development teams to capture and reuse automated unit test cases, test stubs and drivers, and other development test objects.
· The candidate should show a familiarity with the latest testing theory and practice, a commitment to on-going learning about the field,
Qualifications:
· 5/7 years of experience with RFT tools for automation, testing and life cycle management.
· Java Development skills
· Expert level SQL skills
· Knowledge of database and performance tuning techniques.
· Strong analytical skills.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
· Self-starter, self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks.
· Graduate or Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or an engineering discipline.
