Position: OBIEE Report Developer
Location: New Haven, CT
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Overview:
Designs, builds, tests and supports simple to complex reporting & analytics (e.g. single data source, less than 100 users, one department, etc.) to deliver accurate, timely and reliable data to Yale Business Intelligence (BI) customers.
Essential Duties:
Technical Design
· Designs the end-user access layer of the BI project based on customer access requirements, data requirements, analysis of data sources, current reporting environment and functional design.
· Performs the detailed design of reports.
· Documents reporting and analytics technical design.
· Assesses availability of data (sources & target) and recommends required changes to enable reporting.
· Ensures business metadata definitions are consistent with functional design.
· Works with data architecture to design aggregation strategy that supports business definitions, scalability and usability of the front end solution.
· Defines and documents the timing and schedule for delivery of reports.
· Participates in peer reviews.
Build
· Develops reports that are in compliance with customer requirements, security requirements and service level specifications.
· Works with Data Architect, Technical Architect, and Tester to complete the build and deployment activities needed to support BI reporting/analytics requirements.
· Works with Data Architect to understand underlying data model.
· Configures analytics tools to deliver reports.
Test
· Develops and executes unit test scripts.
· Develops common test data.
Support
· Participates in transitions of the reports to testers.
· Fixes any defects and performance problems discovered in testing.
· Supports integration, UAT and stress testing by investigating and resolving problems identified in reports.
· Documents the reports to facilitate maintenance.
· Provides level 2 support.
· Manages delivery of reporting and analytics to resolve performance and production issues.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
· Experience with modeling and building OBIEE repository layers
· Experience developing reports and dashboards in OBIEE using Answers
· Experience developing reports in BI Publisher
· Working knowledge of report & query design and development.
· Working knowledge of data warehouse design, OLAP, and data mining.
· Working knowledge of SQL.
· Working knowledge of SDLC processes including requirements gathering, design, built, test.
· Working knowledge of Yale business processes.
· Working knowledge of end user access or data access layers within a data warehouse architecture, translating requirements to design and working with end users to understand their business activities.
· Front end tools including Informatica, Brio, Hyperion Portal and analytic dashboards, etc.
· Mentor or assist other team members in OBIEE.
