As a key member of the Professional Services R&D organization, the senior QA engineer will contribute to a world-class testing group. The objective of this group is to develop and test large scale analytics platform that enables advanced consulting services and in some cases, software-as-a-service offerings.
• Develop expert knowledge of the subject matter and take QA responsibility for the assigned components.
• Plan, design and document software test plans, review and get them approved.
• Setup and maintain lab equipment (e.g. computers, routers, data simulators (e.g. Spirent))
• Configure and generate test data.
• Run test cases, record results, report bugs and re-run test cases.
• Automate test executions using test automation tools.
• Assist project managers with work breakdown structure and time and cost estimates for the assigned software components.
• Track your assigned work closely and ensure adherence to the project schedule. Alert appropriate management personnel if current or projected work is veering from schedule dates.
• Maintain adherence to, and help to define, all processes and procedures associated with the organization’s software development lifecycle management.

Complete Description:
• Assume lead solution architect role for the Insight Services product development effort.
• Responsible for delivery of solution functionality, which meets defined requirements, on schedule and budget.
• Work with Insight Services network consultants and product management on pertinent aspects of the development process, especially requirements review and validation, as well as system test planning and execution.
• Work with the adjacent organizations, such as the Mobile IP business unit, on appropriate aspects of systems development, such as integration between data collection, data aggregation, and data import components of the Insight Services technology core.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of all components of the Insight Services platform architecture and expert knowledge of the database and higher layers.
• Define development standards and architectural constraints for extending the Insight Services platform while maintaining integrity of third-party contributions (and the ability to apply upgrades to those).
• Define mechanisms and standards for developing, delivering and supporting customer-specific platform extensions without comprising core product functionality and stability.
• Review all software designs produced by the development team. Conduct code reviews as deemed necessary.
• Perform software design and coding activity as necessary.
• Assist with Insight Services demonstration and trial preparation, including system configuration settings, report development, UI mockups and prototyping.
• For Insight Services commercial deployment, assume responsibility for development of system extensions for the technology core as well as development requests specific to a customer.
• Assist development project management as requested, including schedule development, tasks assignment and status monitoring.

Insight Services is a highly scalable analytics system which collects, synthesizes and reports actionable information. The purpose of the Insight Services Staff Engineer is to function as a Software Development Engineer responsible for analysis, design, implementation, testing and customer support of the Insight Services software.
• Analyze, design, develop, test and maintain the InSight system.
• Follow Tellabs quality procedures, develop detailed functional specification, test specifications and review different technical documents
• Perform software design and coding activity as necessary.
• Design, develop, review and tune Insight Database Schema
• Design, develop and debug large volume data collection and processing systems
• Plan, design and implement prototypes for Insight Systems as needed
• Plan, design and implement highly scalable Insight system simulator for load testing
• Plan, setup and maintain LAB equipment (e.g. Linux/UNIX systems, Network)
• Plan, design and implement Installation program for Insight system
• Maintain Insight source code system in ClearCase
• Evaluate 3rd party software, recommend new technologies and integrate 3rd party software into InSight system.
• Assist with Insight Services demonstration and trial preparation, including system configuration settings, report development.
Required Skills:

Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Computer Science Masters
Self motivated, enthusiastic and experienced to design develop and test
Extensive hands on experience in designing and implementing large scale Java
