SAS Administrator / Performance Improvement Consultant

We have an immediate requirement for a *SAS Administrator / Performance Improvement Consultant* with one of our major client a Biopharmaceautical company in Foster City, CA. (San Francisco area)
Primary Skills:
The customer uses Foundation SAS products (e.g., Base, STAT, GRAPH, various ACCESS engines) and not EBI nor Metadata Server, nor EG, etc. The customer is using a RedHat Enterprise LINUX 4.0 environment with 7 production machines (and 3 Development machines). The production machines are virtually identical. They are virtual services dedicated to SAS; however, the hardware itself could be shared amongst other applications. Each of the 7 servers accesses a common Share mapped via an NFS mount. The shared disk area is on a SAN array. Additionally the SAN array itself is being shared amongst applications.
The machines are, for the most part, segregated by business function. However, they do have BASH script that they can run which will get the current load of all of the servers and then submit a program to the server with lowest load.
All of the data sources are currently flat files, but they do have access to Oracle and ODBC. All users are accessing SAS via an X-Windows client and then run display-manager SAS sessions to perform statistical analyses & reports. Outputs typically are in the form of large datasets or summary reports.
A goal is to perform an upgrade to all of the production servers to LINUX 6 from LINUX 4 and to SAS 9.2 from SAS 9.1.3. (They want assistance and experience migrating code, macros and libraries.)
They are looking for a SAS Administrator to basically monitor SAS processes to perform root cause analysis to determine various performance problems they have been faced with.
Required Skills:
They are looking for a SAS consultant that is familiar with Display-Manager SAS within a LINUX environment.
The consultant should be a problem solver with the ability to test various scenarios in a scientific systematic way to solve inconsistent performance problems.
Candidates should have the following skillsets:
* Extensive experience coding in SAS using Display-Manager within an X-Windows environment. This person will need to look through and test code to ensure code efficiency and recommend changes for enhanced performance.
* Extensive experience with the LINUX OS, with the ability to track processes, enable OS level logging related to performance testing, BASH shell scripting.
* Extensive experience using SAS system options to attain different performance gains.
* Knowledge of SAS processing and how SAS reads and writes to disk and utilizes RAM when accessing DATASETS and processing them.
* Ability to monitor CPU and RAM while SAS runs jobs.
* Experience working with SAN arrays, testing for IO bottlenecks and making recommendations for enhancements.
* Experience with SAS logging, especially LOG4SAS performance logging.
* Knowledge of best practices for best performance of SAS (i.e., SASWORK location, UTILLOC), striping methods, CPU counts, etc.
* Experience with SAS multithreading and best practices to achieve best performance.
* Ability to integrate SAS logging and LINUX logging to determine the interaction of both.
